What is interface design?
Interface design is the art of creating an intuitive method for a human to interact with (in our case) a web site.

Why is interface design important?
Interface design is important because it is what makes something easy or difficult to use, or what makes information clear or confusing. This site aims to introduce basic design principles to help you create usable, understandable, unambiguous web pages.

So why the Jellyfish?
Because it is the perfect test subject for interface design. It isn't a very advanced creature - it has no heart, brain or bones; thus, it can't use anything complicated. A Jelly will float with the tide and go wherever your website tide takes them. They filter their food effortlessly, just as a user should be able to gather information from a well designed site.
